"So, did we win?" Mike: "No. No we didn't."

We didn't win Best Picture at second round screenings, but we won some other award called The Turner Classic Movie Award, and Mike's not too sure, but he heard something about it being broadcast on tv soon, but he's not sure, so i'm not sure. We also won the award for best special effects. We are the only film to win 2 awards by the way, i think that's pretty cool. But nothing is as good as Best Picture. Basically if we speak in terms of 1st, 2nd and 3rd place, 1st place is the Best Picture award, 2nd place is the one we got (Turner Classic...), and third i think, but i'm not too sure, is Best Comedy.


We lost to Emerson College. They won Best Picture. They also won Best Picture last year against Mike's winning film at the first stage titled Tangent which i posted the link up here in one of my previous posts. In fact, Emerson also won Best Picture the year before last against Bryan's film Moratorium that won in the first round as well. It's either the judges are biased, or our film really wasn't as good as Emerson's film. I have my own views after watching theirs, but i won't try and sway yours. So take a look for yourself and make up your mind.

If you found "Departure" confusing, it could be because Bryan took a line out last minute. Even i didn't know about it until i watched it via the link and got a shock so i called Mike up and Mike said Bryan took it out last minute. I'll tell you what the line was next time. I thought it was one of the more important lines of the movie, so having it out could have confused people.

On a higher note, our film is in the top 16 of about 25,000 films entered in Campus Movie Fest. This Friday, our film will compete against other films from the states of Boston, Florida and Atlanta in the Atlanta film fest '07. We might get back at Emerson if we win in this bigger event. So hopefully we do, but Mike says we only have 2 other films as competition, one is the one that has beat us already (Sealed) and the other is one called Franka something, apparently it's entirely in Russian and they have elaborate costumes and good cinematography. But we'll see. Hopefully we'll do well.
